welcome to the preapocalypse
« on: June 20, 2010, 05:21:25 PM »
Today's the day! Sometime before I turn in for the night, I'm going to open preorders and pre-print PDF sales. I'll announce it in this thread.

In this forum, ask whatever you like about preorders and the pre-print PDF, but please ask straight-up rules questions up in the regular barf forth forum. Once the preorder period ends, I'm going to close up this forum, so it's better to have more general conversations elsewhere.

Once you have the pre-print PDF, I'd be grateful if you'd point some things out to me, as you spot them:
- Typos
- Forward references
- Bad page references
- Missing index entries

Thanks! I'm so excited I can hardly write.

for those of us who have not used our forge bookshelf accounts in like 5 years and have no idea what the login info is, could you provide the game by other means?

If necessary!

However, first:

Your Forge Bookshelf login email is the same as your PayPal email address.

If you go to the bookshelf and hit "Get new password," the bookshelf will email you a fresh new password.

If that doesn't work out for you for some reason, then yes, email me and I'll get you the files.

Vincent: What do you mean by 'Forward references?' I see lots of references to '+1 forward' all over.

Oh, like, um, places where I've reordered the text or been stupid or something so that I expect you to know something I haven't introduced yet. Like if I said "when you roll a highlighted stat..." without first mentioning that you have highlighted stats.

(I think those are called forward references, aren't they?)

Not getting a link to order while in the Bookshelf. Just "Find Out More"
A player of mine playing a gunlugger - "So now that I took infinite knives, I'm setting up a knife store." Me - "....what?" Him - "Yeah, I figure with no overhead, I'm gonna make a pretty nice profit." Me - "......"

Weird hyphenation in this line:

(1) barf apocalyptica upon it, by adding detail-
sand
imagery  of your own;

Also looks like two spaces after "imagery," there.

This line reads strangely to me:

There are no status quos in Apocalypse World! Even life doesn’t always suck.

Shouldn't it be something like "There are no status quos in Apocalypse World! Even that life sucks." ?

Even life doesn’t always suck.

Ha ha! I kept trying to edit that sentence, but always came back around to it. Finally I was like, fuck it, that's the sentence you want to be?

"Life doesn't always suck, even"?

And while my pedantic hat on, just in case you care, status quos doesn't make any (Latin grammatical) sense. Technically the status quo is the whole (stable) situation beforehand. The correct plural is stati quibus, but of course no-one would have any idea what that meant, whereas it is more or less clear as it stands.

And: p. 121, 2nd para. from bottom: miss-use of ellipse. It is not the singular of ellipses--that's ellipsis.

p. 208: an un-updated example of changing Hx at the end of the session:

Keeler, however, was completely appalled by what Marie said,
and withdrew from her abruptly. Marie didn’t even notice but
kept right on talking. Keeler’s player tells Marie’s to take -1Hx.
