the nerve core / Describe Wear
« on: March 18, 2013, 05:15:48 PM »
The fashion you need to give your characters in pretty much every Apocalypse World game is two or three broad words. That's fantastic and I wouldn't have it any other way. I always like the idea of two people having totally different ideas of what a character is specifically wearing, especially if it's the player and MC.

This kind of makes me curious about what you guys think different kinds of fashion looks like in Apocalypse World. It's different for every character/game and I'm not sure what you guys think of forum games, but let's describe some fashion.

Starting with a few simple one:

  • Casual wear: a T-shirt, jeans and some sneakers. Dusted in food, blood and, well, dust
  • Scrounge vestment: made from sweaters, ponchos, flags and blankets. Comfy to sleep in, but a bitch to walk in.
  • Utility wear plus tech: An crinkly jumpsuit with plastic rings around the neck, wrists and waist that glow and projects a specific logo.

Monster of the Week / Your Inspirations?
« on: December 02, 2012, 10:12:43 PM »
I always like hearing or reading the inspirations of any creative work. It tells where the creator comes from with the project, if not how. It's also a great way to find new things kind of like it ("Near Dark? I wonder how that is..."). I also really like when people take those works and mix in something of their own, creating a whole new perspective on it. That's why I want to ask you guys what your inspirations are for your games? What do you draw from?

Lately, I've been mining Alan Wake's American Nightmare for my games. The style, the tones, even a few of the characters find their way in my ideas for the game.

P.S., Hey, Mike, I didn't see video games in your inspirations list, which is perfectly fine  not to have any. Are there any that you've had when making the game or that you suggest?

Monster of the Week / What's Next?

So I know that Mike just recently announced that the main product is now done and there's already a lot of options in the format of playbooks, but I'm just wondering what's next for MotW?

Monster of the Week / Re: Let's trade playbooks!

Alright, I just got the game and I'm really digging it so far. Everything looks like it's got a nice and grim feel to it, and it just looks fun to play as a hunter, as well as a keeper. I've only got the Luchador playbook right now and hopefully I can find something like the Divine or Summoned playbook if anyone is willing to trade, but right now I'm just loving this game and can't wait to play it!
