Describe Wear

The fashion you need to give your characters in pretty much every Apocalypse World game is two or three broad words. That's fantastic and I wouldn't have it any other way. I always like the idea of two people having totally different ideas of what a character is specifically wearing, especially if it's the player and MC.

This kind of makes me curious about what you guys think different kinds of fashion looks like in Apocalypse World. It's different for every character/game and I'm not sure what you guys think of forum games, but let's describe some fashion.

Starting with a few simple one:

  • Casual wear: a T-shirt, jeans and some sneakers. Dusted in food, blood and, well, dust
  • Scrounge vestment: made from sweaters, ponchos, flags and blankets. Comfy to sleep in, but a bitch to walk in.
  • Utility wear plus tech: An crinkly jumpsuit with plastic rings around the neck, wrists and waist that glow and projects a specific logo.

  • casual wear plus utility: a tank top and cut off jeans plus kneepads, a fanny pack, scissors sticking out of the leg of a boot
  • showy armor: a lime green cuirass made from a car, the metal shaped like bulging abs and a codpiece sprouting a two pronged dick painted red
  • high formal wear: a blue and gold sating robe with a very high and tight collar with vulture feather frill
  • scrounged mismatched armor: football helmet, riot vest padded with life jacket, rollerblading shin guards reinforced with metal plates
  • junta wear: Fidel Castro with the cap and cigar, beard is not optional

utility wear plus tech: gray overalls over a white shirt, with dozens of pockets, clips, straps, and buttons; the buckles can be taken apart into very basic toolkits/lockpick sets, while the buttons can be detached and glow dimly for about five minutes - multiple colors available.
scrounge wear plus utility: a poncho made from several layers of black plastic bag, with a bunch of pockets hidden in the lining. Belt made from bike chain. Foot wraps made from bandages soaked in deodorizing chemical.
fetish vestments: black PVC nun's habit one-piece, with sheer black hose and black stilettos.
scrounge vestments: robe made of golden paisley curtains, with hat made from fancy lampshade.
tech vestments: black Tyvek jumpsuit, with stole made from woven Christmas lights that still work.

Luxe wear: Silk bathrobe worn over wedding gown, slippers, loads of jewelry, wide-brimmed sun hat with mirrors around the crown.
Combat biker wear: Heavy boots, leather trousers, leather jacket reinforced with pieces of old road signs, military helmet with nails driven through it at all possible angles, metal and plastic beaked visor.
Vintage wear: Work boots, carefully mended slacks, button-up shirt, tweed waistcoat, improvised cravat made from a strip of purple tie-dyed tablecloth, flat cap, black raincoat.
Showy scrounge wear: Extremely torn jeans over hot pink leopard leggings, spray-painted tarpaulin poncho covered with badges and medals, old car antennas woven into hair, neon green sneakers, gauze veil.
