Apocalypse World / Re: New Campaign: Objects in Space
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:13:14 PM »
Watch the anime PlanetES. One of the best ever and all about a fairly realistic portrayal of living in space.  Not apocalyptic space but I'm sure it will have some gems of inspiration.

Apocalypse World / Re: different advanced improvements?
« on: April 18, 2011, 03:58:56 PM »
He's referring to advanced improvements, the ones you take after the 5th:
__ get +1 to any stat (+3 max)
__ retire your character (to safety)
__ create a second character to play
__ change your character to a new type
__ choose 3 basic moves and advance them
__ advance the other 4 basic moves

Apocalypse World / Re: Doubts with seduce and manipulate
« on: April 17, 2011, 12:17:47 AM »
One comment, if you're giving the guy the gun you're probably not manipulating, you're probably doing this:

When you give 1-barter to someone, but with strings
attached,
it counts as manipulating them and hitting the roll
with a 10+, no roll required.

Apocalypse World / Re: Just give me a motive from Maestro D´
« on: April 15, 2011, 12:54:11 PM »
This represents the contact the Maestro has had with the victim and the fact they've had a chance to introduce poison or something into their food, drink, etc.

Suddenly, without warning.  Dead.

Apocalypse World / Spoonful of sugar
« on: April 14, 2011, 03:33:20 AM »
Has anyone used the Hoarder move spoonful of sugar yet in play? It's really odd figuring how spending barter after the roll will affect the outcome of helping and interfering.

A couple uses are more obvious, something like helping someone manipulate by waving jingle in someone's face. I'm curious though how this move has actually been used in play, must be some non-obvious examples.

Looking for guidance on how to run the move in play, really.

Hey orklord, I sent the material to your listed email, did you get it?  If you have a different address you'd like me to send so just say so.

Doofus!  :-)

hey I started an ice age setting game which unfortunately never got past session 1 due to work schedules, I can drop the fronts and stuff on you if you like to look. Not saying they're great or anything but might be interesting and you're welcome to use anything that doesn't suck.

I was looking at it kind of this way:  When someone reads you, it's often in order to find a way to resolve conflict, determine what you want and how to react in a way you'll accept.

Answering these questions false will cause you to suffer. People won't know how to make you happy and violence and misunderstanding will surround you.

When dealing with the MC directly, the answers are still true, the false answers only go towards other characters. (Generally PC's as NPC's won't have too much call to ask questions, except when the player's moves are turned back on them and a few other examples)

Apocalypse World / Re: The "twinky" battlebabe
« on: March 28, 2011, 03:18:15 PM »
This may not square with others experiences but the stats are definitely not equal. It is most difficult, I think to use Cool. You can generally go out and DO something hard, or weird, or sharp, or hot, but cool kind of comes to you. Battlebabe has a high stat but is least able to just go use it. Of course it helps when they can use it to go aggro and this probably depends a lot on MC play style. (How often they call for acting under fire)

Sharp is the most valuable stat in my book, makes all the others better.

Cool stuff Kilaya!

I'd like to see it done without the conviction bank. Someone with strength gained through suffering is cool but I don't need too many more mechanics.

Here's some ideas:

But I want to help: When you help someone, you gain +1 if the one you're helping has ever injured you. When you interfere with someone you gain +2 if you've ever seen the one you're interfering with harm anyone else.

Disability Boost: When you suffer a disability, you gain xp and add your total number of disabilities to your attempts to manipulate those who hurt you, forever.

Cassandra's Tears: When you are required to answer questions, you may not tell the truth. This affects read a person, opening your brain the psychic maelstrom and any move which gives another character information about you.

My suffering strengthens me: When you suffer harm you gain 1-armor, forever against the individual(s) who harmed you. (Sorry, book keeping) This is not cumulative, just one per person.

Marty'rs Blood:When someone suffers harm in your presence you may take the harm upon yourself. You must take it all and it's AP.

Words of God:When you manipulate, roll+weird instead of roll+hot.

Apocalypse World / Re: Luxe Eternal #1: Call for Submissions

Would a con scenario including a bunch of love letters and stuff be too much material for a submission?

Poker Face:
When anyone rolls to read you, you automatically interfere. When you roll to manipulate an npc and are called upon to offer assurance, they trust you regardless of how outlandish or unreasonable an assurance you offer.
