Worlds in Peril is THE Superhero RPG for the Apocalypse World system! Comic book stories and characters like you've always wanted them!

Worlds in Peril combines descriptive, creative and flexible powers with a narrative structure that encourages players to take control of their stories and build worlds together.  See the Kickstarter page for a description of how this game differs from AW, including:
  • Use of a Powers Profile to describe what your character can do with your powers at varying levels of difficulty (simple to do, difficult, borderline, theoretically possible)
  • Use Descriptive Conditions that have tracks instead of hit points.
  • Character creation using mini-playbooks - an Origin playbook to define the core of the character and a Drive playbook to define the character's current motivation.
  • Advancement tied to what you do in game via Achievements, which are earned by fulfilling prerequisites of new moves and playbooks through roleplaying and story in the game .

Kickstarter Ends: May 12th, 12:00am EDT

Dungeon World / Re: New Rules For Having Two Classes: Input Desired.
« on: September 09, 2013, 05:22:15 PM »
Don't forget these important points from the rulebook:

For the purpose of multiclassing, any starting class moves that depend on each other count as one move - for example, if you take the Wizard's Cast a Spell move, you also immediately get the Spellbook and Prepare Spells move, for example.

If a move from another class refers to your level, count your levels from the level where you first gained a move from that class.

Was what I wrote comprehensible, even if you found it unnecessary?  I'm truly not interested in simply applying the Multiclass move, though I appreciate that others prefer that.

I agree that what you wrote is comprehensible and I also agree it is totally unnecessary (see below).

In addition, why the restriction on Alignment?  You can pretty much change your Alignment and or/Alignment Move at any time per the core rules as long is there is justification in the fiction.

Maybe easier just to say "if you justify it to me in the game fiction, you can always pick a multiclass move on levelup".
There's no question that what you suggest would be easier, but presently I'm interested in making it feasible for one player to eventually take on the entire role of two classes, if they wish to.  The point of this system is to figure out a way of doing this which isn't too immediately overpowering, nor completely unappealing.

I'd ultimately like the players to be able to expand their move options beyond what is offered by a single class progression, regardless of whether they can take Multiclass moves.  I also see the gaining of a new class as a great roleplay opportunity.

I'll echo the sentiments of others by saying that allowing the Multiclass move at any level with in game justification achieves your stated intent in an easier fashion and with much more flexibility than you are allowing.

On top of just allowing the Multiclass move at any level, add a single rules tweak:

Multiclass Mastery
When you have obtained all the Starting Moves of another class, you have mastered that class; at this time, between your starting and mastered classes you may choose the best from each of hit points, damage, and load.  You may also choose a Racial Move/Background that is appropriate to either class.

Dungeon World / Re: Universal character sheet

I already posted these in different threads, but since this one is pinned, I thought I would add here.  I have created editable templates in both Word 2007 and Open Office that can be used to create new playbooks:

Dungeon World / Open Office Playbook Template
« on: September 01, 2013, 03:56:54 PM »
I recently posted a Playbook template in MS Word format.  A bunch of people were disappointed it did not convert over into Open Office properly; therefore, I have created a separate ODT template.  I am not nearly as proficient in Open Office as I am in Word, so let me know if there are any issues.

Dungeon World / Word 2007 Playbook Template
« on: August 30, 2013, 02:32:55 PM »

I have created a Word 2007 Playbook template that can used to create new classes or you can cut and past the text in from an existing class to tweak it.  It closely resembles the original Playbooks.  I recommend turning on non-printing characters and text boundaries in Word so you can see how it fits together.  There are a number of floating text boxes, and anchored and in line images.

Dungeon World / Availability of Print version?

It looks like IPR is out of stock on the print version.  Does anyone know when it will be available again?

Dungeon World / GM Screen Inserts / Reference Sheets
« on: March 08, 2013, 01:44:09 PM »
I put together a set of GM Screen Inserts / Reference Sheets and posted them over on RPGgeek.  They are text intensive as I am fairly new to the game and wanted full text until I get more comfortable with the game.  I may eventually create a simplified version.

Suggestions, corrections and other feedback welcome.

Dungeon World / Barbarian Playbook
« on: February 24, 2013, 05:57:02 PM »
I picked up the softcover and got to play this at a con this weekend.  The GM had a Barbarian playbook for the game.  I searched, but could not find where to get this sheet.  Any hints?

Apocalypse World / Error in Holdings Example?
« on: March 31, 2012, 05:57:30 PM »
The math on the Holdings described on pages 259-261 of the book don't add up.

Uncle's holding starts with a Surplus: 1-barter from the default gigs.  He adds:
-Large which gives Surplus: +1barter
-Lucrative Raiding which gives Surplus: +1barter
-Bustling Public Market which gives Surplus: +1barter

The example indicates he ends up with a total of Surplus: 3-barter, shouldn't it be 4-barter

Marie's holding starts with a Surplus: 1-barter from the default gigs.  She adds:
-Decadent and Perverse which gives Surplus: -1barter

The example indicates she ends up with a total of Surplus: 1-barter, shouldn't it be 0-barter
