There's an issue with the link you posted -- it malforms the URL.

Backed!

Please don't give us stretch goals that end up either inadvertently killing the project or delaying it by a year or more. Not that you were going to do that, but I'm just saying...

Been following this in this forum for a while, and I'm happy to see it's going to print!

While the URL you provide is fine, the link it connects to is flawed - it leads to "link" instead of "https://www.dropbox.com/s/js8dsmxz6eab2vw/sprawl%20table.pdf".

It's that time of year again. This Saturday, I will be running a game for 40 Hours of 40K at my FLGS. Since schlaghund was kind enough to include the Imperial Guard with the last batch of playbooks I got (version 1.5, it looks like), I'm all set to run an ork massacre scenario with a bunch of Last Chancers.

I took the opportunity to look the playbooks over earlier this week, and I still think they look fantastic! Schlaghund, you outdid yourself!

The one-shot mission was a plane hijacking (I called the mission "Your In-flight Movie") that involved disposing of security personnel, stealing corporate designs for a rival corp, disabling electronics with a surreal, Neuromancer-esque hacking scene, and flying the plane for a private aircraft carrier.

I liked being able to use the floorplan to a VC-25 for the game.
Great. Now I want to run this scenario. As if I didn't have enough to run! I'm drowning in good things! Argh!

As an aside, if you get the time/energy to put together a short adventure seed pdf, I'd be very interested. Thanks for the inspiration/motivation!

I see you updated the Google Drive contents. The Geistkonen is the shit!

Did the Heartbreaker not get updated?

Apologies for the thread necromancy, but I really liked this thread and was sorry to find it hadn't continued.

16.   With one final mighty blow, the Arch Necromancer crumples to the ground. The party’s victory celebrations must be short-lived, however, as the cavern begins to buckle and heave. Is it an earthquake? No, the Necromancer’s infernal patrons have come to claim his prizes by drawing his lair into the Abyss!
17.   With one final mighty blow, the Evil High Priest crumples to the ground. With a cracking noise, dust falls from the giant stone idol as it begins to move of its own accord, six serrated stone blades held in six muscular arms. The remaining cultists shriek and go mad as the idol moves forward to wreak the god’s vengeance for being foiled.
18.   With one final mighty blow, the Grand Duke crumples to the ground. The guards and courtiers look aghast as the evil man falls, then turn as different lords begin shouting orders at the guards, fighting to take over in the power vacuum. One lord throws a sack of coins at the players as another orders his black-cloaked guards to murder them and their “new patron”…
19.   With one final mighty blow, the Master of Assasssins crumples to the ground. As he falls, he lands on/pulls a lever and the party hears the clanks and whirs as a dungeon full of fiendish traps activate. Roars echoing down the passages hint at horrors previously penned up in hidden cages that have now been released to roam the hallways leading to the exit…

Monsterhearts / The Blood of Misty Harbour - where to buy?
« on: January 21, 2014, 10:04:55 PM »
So, I see that The Blood of Misty Harbour is out, and there's a webpage for it. But I can't figure out where I can buy it! There are no purchase links given and it's sold out on IPR. Can somebody point me to where I can pick up the pdf, at least.

Is there any chance this could be made into a fancy pdf? I've gamed off of notebook paper, drawing maps on cheap graph paper and using dice with numbers I had to color in myself, but the younger kids I run for/game with expect like-it-was-paid-for production values with everything.

Dungeon World / Re: Paying Nature's Price
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:52:35 AM »
One of the interesting ideas from the Pendragon RPG was that most of the strange customs the PCs encountered in the boonies ("Everybody entering the village has to wear clothing appropriate to the opposite gender for the duration of their stay." "We require everyone who visits to spend the night sleeping in a giant cauldron. Be wary of the fire sprites who'll try to light it up overnight.") are the remnants of ancient bargains made with Faerie Powers/Ancient Gods/Nature Spirits. What the mortals got from it has been long forgotten/lost, but the requirement remains.

I would say that the Nature Spirits will require something commensurate with the magnitude of the task from their standpoint. Some things might be bizarrely cheap, others ridiculously expensive. These creatures don't think like humans, and are effectively immortal so they should take a correspondingly long view of things. Bargains that require the party to do some weird thing at inopportune moments ("Your party must don wolfskins on nights of the full moon for a year and a day." "Your party is expected to paint your faces in this specific blue-and-red pattern when dealing with the nobles of the Kingdom of Yarth, to remind them of ancient compacts, for the duration of the trading season.") are flavorful and create more amusing/dangerous roleplay situations later.

Dungeon World / Re: Reading a "Mythos" Book
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:30:27 AM »
I like it. A couple of observations:

  • I'd change the 7-9 result so that it specifies that "the book is read" so the "Read Book of Emagghua" effect triggers.
  • I might rename "understanding" to be something flavorful, and keep different effects separate. I could see a couple of different "threads of corruption" infecting the party, with some characters having read books that carry each type of corruption, and the different types playing off against each other. "So, you're telling me I won't have to take Eihort's Bargain, but then I either have to sign the Black Book of Azathoth or make the Unspeakable Oath?"

Sorry, we're just in the process of doing some updates, to add the above 4 playbooks, as well as correcting some text and adding some play-based guidance and advice to the GM's section. As soon as it's all done, I'll post the link back here. Thanks for the interest!
Well, I love the New Neighbours, so I'll be watching this space!
