New player that has a question

Ok ladies and gentlemen

my question is probably an easy one to answer  and  the answer will probably be something  that is very obvious but still  i cant figure it out for some reason.

Anyway  the question is     on a few moves   it says  Take  or  they take   +1forward ( +1 forward to what ? )   and  on my brainer  it says   they take -1 right now  ( -1 to what ? )

like i said its probably very easy question  and probably something  i overlooked in the rules somewhere but  still i would very much appriciate the help :)

To your next roll. Whatever it happens to be, you get +1 or -1.

Occasionally it will say something more specific, like +1 forward to Hot, or +1 forward to your next interaction with this or that -- in which case, it will apply to the next roll that meets those conditions.

i already thought it would be along the lines of something like that ^^

+1 or -1 forward means to the next roll (unless it specifically states additional conditions). +1 ongoing until... means +1 to every roll until the condition is met.
