Because I can't see anything I dislike yet, and I want to say something, here are things that I love.
- All of the new and semi-new basic moves.
- The Outlaw Heir's 'Beautiful & Doomed' move. If I use that playbook, I will never not take that.
- The 'magic items' and associations that the Troll Killer can take.
- The Wicker-Wise's charms and ceremonies.
- The entire concept of Fate, and how it works.
- Lands, vassals, holdings, interests, and the first map.
- How dragons must deal with the Dragon-Herald.
- How 'Wolfpack' works for the War-Herald, as opposed to the Chopper's gang. How Muster works.
- The different rules of genealogy, and how they all apply if you're willing to press your claims.
My group is just as excited about this as I am. As someone who loves Apocalypse World, but vastly prefers old, dark fantasy set in the Late Antiquity to post-apocalyptic environments, this is pretty much a dream come true. One that I could have made happen myself, perhaps, but not like this. I might have actual criticisms or observations about the game after I run it, which I'm going to do as soon as possible, but for now, it's only compliments and joy about being able to play The Warlord Chronicles as powered by the apocalypse.
