1 player game?

Hey. I was just wandering if anyone has tried apoc-world with GM-player only?
I know that ther will be a lot missing (other players for starters) but would the game still work? Or does the whole thing fall apart?

I know there's been some threads about this, but short answer: it works fine, it's just lacking. I've both played and MC-ed in this situation.

Most people do some wacky complicated Hx with important NPCs to take advantage of the mechanic, but under Vincent's suggestion (can't find the thread), in our games, we just dropped it completely. Didn't notice any difference.

It plays very differently, just be aware!

Haha in my first reading of this post I thought your question was wether AW is suitable for solo-play!

How's that for weird guy in mom's basement? ;)

Heh.
No, I mean 2 people... 1 player and 1 mc.

Almost tempted to give it a try. The mechanics and playbook style makes the game easy to explain and grasp, so it has a lot going for it!

Hey, I did this. I wanted to see how AW worked as a fiction writing tool.

I randomly created six characters, using dice to choose playbooks, look, name, moves, stats, and Hx. I thought about the people I'd created, and the questions their Hx assignments led up to.

Then I chose one of the implied scenes, Sundown the Brainer helping Frog the Faceless do something terrible.

I started writing. Then, when it seemed that someone was making a move in the fiction, I rolled the dice to see what happened.

It went from there.

I have done a couple of those games. My experience is it's very fast paced and draining and about half as fun as having 2 players. Maybe I just need to learn how to make slow contemplationary scenes with a single player.

This sounds awesome. Seriously love this idea and may give it a try myself.
