Related question:

What about moves that replace moves?

For example the Troll Killer's Fearless move: when you draw a monster out, roll Cool instead of rolling Hot. Would you only mark XP for Fearless? Or would you mark XP for Fearless AND Draw someone out?

I'd imagine for the same reason you'd choose a higher rank: it's what you find interesting to play or what best suits the character you're making.

Personally, I think I'd have more fun playing a rank 7 Dragon-Herald than 3rd or 4th rank.

Not until the Fighter gets up to piss and forgets where the wizard is sleeping.

If they get a miss on the shapeshift roll, then you get to make a hard move.

Stop by Games on Demand. It's pretty well guaranteed there will be lots of Dungeon World going on.

The Wizard's Ritual move would also be good.

Otherwise, it's always fun to just use something to find out and hope it's not cursed.

If the host, and only the host, brought snacks:
Everyone else take -1 ongoing this session.

It's easy to miss, but I like the situations it can open up.

Maybe a certain action is really important and multiple people roll Aid to make sure that +1 comes out.

Chances are one or more of the helpers rolls a 7-9. Woo!

Remember that no matter how many people aid in a roll, only a single +1 is gained.

I just downloaded it and I definitely see text in there on marking XP on a miss. Page 17 of the pdf.

Go on an adventure!

Could also try bringing in the mage's ritual for another mechanical solution.

other lumpley games / [AP] Psi*Run (first time)
« on: October 22, 2012, 05:54:07 PM »
I ran Psi*Run for the very first time last Wednesday. I just finished putting up part 1 of an AP for any that are interested in reading that sort of thing.

I really  had a fantastic time and can't wait to run again, or maybe even play some time.

I should finish editing part 2 tomorrow sometime.

I just wanted to say a big thanks for putting this together. My excitement level was already pretty high for Dungeon World -- been about a year since I've gotten to play.

But reading the guide has me even more excited! And actually makes me kind of confident that I could run the game and do it justice (running *W games intimidates me for some reason.

Again: thanks!

Fridays don't work well for me, unfortunately.

Thanks anyway!
