Waterbringer Question
« on: May 28, 2018, 05:20:00 PM »
I have a question about the Waterbringer laws.

My reading is that these laws are meant for things happening at The Source. I have seen them read as being laws that apply everywhere. Now in any given game I'm sure you could go either way as desired by the people at the table, but I'm curious as to the general reading.

Good question.

We've always assumed that the laws are applicable to the Waterbearer's domain (basically, the Source and its environs).

Thank you for the reply.

I was curious after seeing it applied to a whole community where the other characters were located. I wasn't in on the session zero so I didn't see if anyone discussed it but I was perplexed at how the other characters were supposed to realistically deal with the Waterbringer's rules.

Oh cool I've never even thought about the laws applying outside the waterbearer's source. I think it actually opens up a really interesting avenue of thought if the laws are being proselytized and pushed like an authoritarian tumour. That totally sounds like a GM threat to me, both the laws themselves and the simmering resentment of having someone else's ideals pushed onto you!

I consider the laws applicable to the domain of the source and its environment as well. I could be willing to say that the water that flows from the source may be a target of these laws as well, but, I've yet to have a game with a source and a group leaving it behind. So there's been no opportunity to see how it plays away from home.
