The Goblin Hole AP - The Rabbit Hole
« on: January 23, 2012, 08:34:14 AM »
On my blog I published Actual Play report of my first session of Dungeon World:
http://ifrytrpg.blogspot.com/2012/01/jaskinia-krolikow.html

It's in Polish, my native language. This way I can popularise Dungeon
World for a new audience. ;)

My session was based on "The Goblin Hole" module by Marshall Miller.
It went really good. All of players (including me) had much fun.

XP were based on highlights, and for us it worked great
- both players used all Basic Moves and gameplay was more diverse.

I had a little problem with Goblins as level 2 creatures - but in retrospective,
I could name monsters as something else (gnolls perhaps?) so it's minor one.
(With Goblins as 2 level creatures, starting PC had to make Saving
Throws, each time Goblin hit them.)

Excellent! Google Translate makes your AP very 'accented', and thus quite sombre considering the tone of the Goblin Hole. Polish is such a cool language :)
'Dungeon' translated to 'Basement', I love it!

Awesome AP! The concept of goblin trade routes gave a real depth to your world, the heroes, integrating seamlessly into the situation after chargen. You are right, Marshall's prompts and 'impressions' are so wonderful for improvising! Save the rabbits after last breath? Priceless! I really like your GMing style, welcome to the Adventurer's guild!

Google translate paints quite the vivid picture.  Highlights [of mistranslation] include:
Quote
Character is formed in several minutes, during which time the Ministry may prepare for the session.
The Ministry sounds so ominous and cool!  Now I have to come up with a game that has 'The Ministry' instead of a GM.
Quote
Omar swore he would not come out of the Cave Goblin with empty hands.
Now that's a Fantastic Voyage!
Quote
They decided to travel deep into the earth, and thus found themselves before the king gobliniego.
'Gobliniego' is a really cool word.  I wish I had thought of that instead of google translate.

Silliness aside, that sounds like a really cool adventure!  I can't wait to hear what happens next!  (or if you run it again, I can't wait to hear how its different the second time around)

I was thinking about translating this AP to English.

But now seeing what Google Translate is making of it, I know it is much better this way. :D
