AP and Area
« on: May 18, 2014, 09:11:57 AM »
The question came up during a session the other day whether a weapon that is "area" is also AP. For example, if a Grenade Launcher (4-harm close/far area messy) hits a Gunlugger with 2-armour, is the armour negated by the "area" tag?

I'd love for someone to clear this up, thanks!

No, area simply means that you can hit multiple characters (PC or NPC) in the same place at the same time, but those characters still get the benefit of armor.  Some rare weapons (such as the Brainer's pain-wave projector) are both "area" and "ap," making them pretty powerful indeed!

Oh yeah, we were under the impression there weren't any weapons that were both area and AP (hence part of the reason why we thought that maybe the latter was included in the former). Thanks for pointing that out!

Its a very powerful combo with probably only the pain grenade with it innately (and even then that only does one damage), but I do believe that the Gunlugger can also have it if they have an area weapon and then take the ap rounds upgrade.
