After character creation, we found our heroes (Jon the Dwarven Cleric, Redgur the Human Fighter, and Fennie the Elven Wizard) in the middle of defending the Abbey from a Lizardman attack.
After quickly dispatching the last of the Lizardmen, the party went off to find the source of the attack, which led them to the massive bronze doors, which Fennie remembers is the entrance to the Bloodstone Idol, but can't remember much else about it.
Just outside the doors there were Goblins and Lizardmen skirmishing. The brave heroes decide that the better part of valor is staying alive, so they let the fighting die down before committing on a course of action.
The Goblins were able to successfully repel the Lizardman invasion, with only two Goblin guards standing outside the doors, the heroes decide that a little recon would be in order, and the best way to accomplish that would be for Fennie to turn Redgur invisible, unfortunatly, Fennie didn't have invisibility memorized, so she tells the boys that she'll go meditate for a while, and then they will proceed with the recon.
A few minutes after Fennie enters her meditative trance, Goblin reinforcements arrive. Jon snaps Fennie out of her trance, and fortunately she was not far enough in to have cleared her mind yet [had the player make a Int roll, she got a strong hit, so she was able to keep both of her previous spells, if it was a soft hit, she would have had only one spell, and if it had failed, she would have had no spells], so the heroes decide to talk to the Goblins. Redgur takes the lead in the decent down the hill, with Jon following a little ways behind, and Fennie figures that she should "loosen up" by stretching (a little calisthenics never hurt anyone right?).
The Goblins notice the Fighter coming down the hill, and fire off a warning shot, to which Redgur turns and runs back up the hill to Jon screaming like a little girl. When he reaches Jon, he composes himself, picks up a rock and proceeds to hurl it at the poor Goblin who was only following protocol... The rock firmly imbeds itself in the Goblin Archers forehead, promptly causing his demise.
The rest of the Goblins become enraged, and start charging up the hill towards Redger, with the single intent of revenge.
Fennie, who has finally finished her warm up, sees the Goblins charging Redgur, and lets loose a Magic Missile [with a soft hit, and a choice of drawing unwanted attention], which strikes one of the Goblins in the shoulder, scorching its flesh, and causing it to refocus it's rage away from Redgur, to attack the "Magicky Magicky!" with one of its brother in arms, leaving two of them to attack Redgur and Jon.
Redgur, realizing he is a mighty warrior, cleaves one of the Goblins in half, the barbs on his bloodstained long sword ripping flesh from bone in a most horrific way. Jon brings up his mace and bashes in the helmet of the other Goblin, but we all know that Goblins don't have anything useful up there, so all it ends up doing despite giving it a scratch is to annoy it to the point of sticking Jon with its spear.
Fennie starts to panic as she sees two Goblins rushing at her. She tries to get off another Magic Missile, but she can't seem to remember the correct sequence in order to discharge the raw magic into the searing bolt of death.
Redgur run up to the top of the hill to protect Fennie, slicing one of the Goblins in half, but as it is being torn asunder, it is able to scratch Redgur across the arm. Meanwhile the Goblin with the singed shoulder runs Fennie through with his sword, which does nothing to help Fennie in remembering the correct incantation.
Now, we don't want to forget about Jon, after Redgur dispatched one of the two Goblin, Jon was left to fight the other Goblin with the bashed in helmet. It seems that the bash in the helmet helped it to fit better, because try as he might, he just could not land another blow. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Goblin, who with just two quick jabs of his spear, sent Jon to meet with Zorica the Mysterious.
Seeing their comrade fall in battle, Redgur and Fennie quickly seek retribution, and the remaining Goblin falls to a combination of Scorching Fire and Barbed Steel.
Jon starts to head into the light, when none other than Zorica comes and tells him that she has much bigger plans for him, and to try and remember to use the "big guy" (Redgur) as a shield more often, before sending his soul back to his body for some more abuse...
Not having any more healing immediately available, Redgur picks up Jon's body, and they head back to the Abby for some healing and rest...
