Dungeon World / Re: How long do your fights usually take?

The longest battle in my campaign so far was party bard wrestling runaway war leader they captured previously. It lasted about 80 minutes, though I was switching over to other players from time to time. The fight wasn't anything prepared nor it was a big decisive battle.
It still was awesome. They rolled one over another like hundred times, strangling one another with bow string, then they've broken every single one weapon bard had with him and the fight was finished by bard breaking adversary's head with his father's mandolin.

Dungeon World / Re: AW report, fights too long, and a miserable player

You've had some awesome moments, I liked your report.

There's nothing wrong with long fight when everyone is having their fun. The best moment in my current campaign was one intense half-session chase-and-fight scene, which transformed into intense sex scene.

But if you want the scene to be shorter, just make them roll less. Go along with whatever they want. E.g. when paladin charges forward, trying to bowl everyone off the altar, you had him roll twice. Actually once was enough, either +Dex if getting in time was the hardest part or +Str if it's bowling what makes it difficult.

Dungeon World / Re: Survive unspeakable horror move

You've got a point. But it's kinda harsh for 7-9 result. You get to write a Bond, but you're in a lot of troubles. Better if you get to write a Bond no matter what, like that:

When you survive unspeakable horror, roll +WIS. 10+, all three. 7-9, choose one.
* you can report clearly and in detail what happened to you
* you can meet the horror face-to-face
* you can sleep peacefully
Also you may write a Bond with it.

Well, forcing a Bond just doesn't feel right to me.

Dungeon World / Survive unspeakable horror move

There's a custom move I made for a horrory dangers. It's got three variants, I actually used only the first one. Sorry about style, I'm not native speaker.

Survive unspeakable horror
When you survive unspeakable horror, roll +WIS. 10+, choose 3. 7-9, choose one.
* you can report clearly and in detail what happened to you
* you do not write the Bond with the horror
* you can meet the horror face-to-face
* you can sleep peacefully

More harsh one:

When you survive unspeakable horror, hold three. Spend your hold one-to-one to:
* report clearly and in detail what happened to you
* meet the horror face-to-face
* get a night of peaceful sleep
* pretend that this whole thing never happened

And more gentle one:

When you survive unspeakable horror, roll +WIS. 10+, choose 3. 7-9, choose one.
You're not Defying Danger when:
* you report clearly and in detail what happened to you
* you meet the horror face-to-face
* you get a night of peaceful sleep
* you pretend that this whole thing never happened
