Dungeon World / Re: AP: The Barrow of the Dwarven Queen

Thanks! It mostly sprang from the name and my desire to have dwarves be something else than mountain folk.

After I finished and read the text over, somehow Harrenhal jumped into my mind... I've been watching too much Game of Thrones it seems.

Next Friday, we'll get to together for another game of Dungeon World. Maybe it will be a continuation of the previous game. I don't know yet. Only two players will continue their characters, the others dropped out of the game. There will be 1-3 new players. But the two dwarves have indicated, they'd be interested in finding out what happens next. Therefore, I am ready to roll into two directions:

1. Continue the dwarven adventure.

I've prepared a bit for that:
-Updated map (link)
-The port town that they are travelling to (link)

2. Start something new with all the players

I would be interested in option 1 of course, because I would like to find out what happens next. For that, we need to play.

Thanks. Yes, I hadn't thought of the exclusivity of the Kickstarter. I will hold off on putting it somewhere until after the Kickstarter has closed and DW has shipped.

Is there a way to send you the result?

And there I was wondering about the answer I first received. ;)
Well, asking never hurts.

Would it be alright to translate World of Dungeon into German and host it somewhere on the internet? Probably my Blog?

Dungeon World / Re: So, The Druid

Also, "druid magic" has always just been a boring element of their character - they're either crippled clerics or shitty mages.  We decided that "transformation" is the watchword of the Druid.

I like shapeshifting. Focuses the druid as someone different. And has a Warcraft 3 vibe.

That's what I need a list for ;)

That's an important clarification! A list of sample animals would have been nice.

Also, I am a tiny bit disappointed that there are no spells for the druid. I think he is balanced, but the druid was always about spell-casting and shapeshifting for me. Still, looks interestingly enough.

Yes, it's stated in the moves discussion. In my pdf, at page 308:

Defending yourself is certainly an option. It amounts to giving up on making attacks and just trying to keep yourself safe.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for the resource links.

I was thinking about a flat list though. Something like the 100 knacks or 100 instincts.

I don't think you can. You have to defend someone or something other than yourself. The way I see it, when you defend youself, you are actually Defying Danger with CON.

Dungeon World / Appendix: 100 Dungeon Descriptors

Something that would really help to kickstarter imagination would be a list of around 100 descriptors that the GM can use for dungeon rooms. Maybe together with another list of 100 descriptors for furniture and other features.

What do you think?

Dungeon World / Re: Locations: To prep or not to prep?
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:31:24 PM »
Low prep. Find some dungeon maps on the internet and fill in a short descriptor for each room. Have a couple of them ready and tied to dangers in a front. Then you are prepared, when your group enters a dungeon. Prep a couple more whenever you have time.

As he started to rise, Finnegan put a firm grip on the gladiator's shoulder and said "I'm sure it was just an accident. Let me buy you two more to make up for it."

Sounds like Parley to me. Leverage: Two beers and implied violence.

Dungeon World / Re: How about Load = Strenght Score?
« on: June 10, 2012, 08:19:18 PM »
There is even a special move that defines how your encumberance impacts you:

Quote
Encumbrance
When you make a move while carrying weight up to or equal to Load, you're fine. When you make a move while carrying weight equal to load+1 or load+2, you take -1. When you make a move while carrying weight greater than load+2, you have a choice: drop at least 1 weight and roll at -1, or automatically fail.
