Apocalypse World / Re: Co-MCing
« on: September 20, 2012, 04:14:47 PM »
I've thought this was a great idea since the day I read it, but convincing a group to do this is very difficult. My players are highly resistant to this kind of change. Hopefully some day soon.

Hanklevoncrankle and I are both MC's and play in the same circles, maybe someday we can get this off the group with the H-town  group!?

If they ask me to take this down, I will happily oblige. This is completely not for profit and I will respect the legalities if it comes to that.

That being said, generic 'space fantasy' game may be required. :)

Hello, I started hacking AW to accomodate star wars roleplaying this week and so far i really like what I've come up with. I've done up ten playbooks including two Jedi playbooks (Guardian and Consular) to reflect the different focuses of the Jedi order. I've kept the basic and peripheral moves the same with the exception of open your brain which I have replaced with a more star wars feeling trust in the force. I also replaced Weird with Attuned. I can't take all the credit here, I was heavily inspired by a fan made Scoundrel and Jedi playbook I found somewhere on the net but the file doesn't indicate the creator so I have no way of asking them if what I've borrowed is alright or not. Hopefully they will enjoy what I have come up with as much as I do and be glad it's inspiring people.

So here is a couple of my playbooks and the new moves (including force powers) for you to look over and share your thoughts.

Apocalypse World / Re: An Apocalyptic GenCon
« on: August 21, 2012, 09:36:56 PM »
Hey Joe,

I also forgot to look up people from the forums. It didn't occur to me at all during the con, I was in a constant daze of excitement, sugar-rush and lack of sleep. :)

As it was my first GenCon I expect oversights like that to happen. Who knows, when I go back in a couple years we may see each other there and shall barf forth apocalyptica together! :D

I hope it went well for you. I for one enjoyed running Apoc World @ Games on Demand as well as Monsterhearts and Fiasco.

*bump*

Can anyone help me out here? It looks like I'm being asked to buy about 4 copies of the game but can't do that if it won't be available at GenCon? Lumpley, any idea?

Thank you.

Looks good to me! All three versions work well though, you can't go wrong with any of them. :)

I like it Hankle. Sums it up nicely. If it helps, I found this description online a while ago and think it works well too. Take or leave of it what you will. See you tomorrow!

The Faceless keeps going no matter the odds, no matter the punishment. If you want to be an unfeeling, unstoppable juggernaut, then the Faceless is for you.

Warning: Your mask defines you. If you want to be an expressive and likable kinda guy, then the Faceless might not be for you.

Apocalypse World / Re: A big ass name list.

I ran my first session today and I went prepared with 237 photos of homeless people, punks, weirdos, and other apocalyptic-looking people printed on 220 gram cardstock at wallet size.  On the edge of each photo I wrote a name for that character, most of which I took from your list.  I spread the photo cards out on a coffee table.

This is bloody brilliant. Did this cost a lot to print or take a long time to prepare? Cause I want to use this.

Ok so version 3 is now in effect.

Taking Lukas' concerns into consideration I can see how the clocks as I had them set-up would chain off of another way too much. So I've reduced the amount of bonus and negatives to other clocks and tried replacing those with wants and surplus instead.

I will definitely take weaverchile's idea and work on some custom moves to go along with certain segments on the clock. Thanks for all the valuable input and support, it's really appreciated.

Apocalypse World / An Apocalyptic GenCon
« on: July 12, 2012, 12:41:11 PM »
Hey all,

Does anyone know if copies of Apocalypse World will be for sale at GenCon? I'm getting a lot of requests from friends to pick up copies for them while I'm down there, not to mention I want to buy myself a spare. I was hoping that maybe one of the 'indie' distributors might have it but since this is my first GenCon I don't actually know what I'm talking about. :)

Thank you.

So when the food runs outs instead of a -1 Morale / -1 Population it would trigger the Starving Move.

I love this idea. It's a lot more work than I had originally planned on, but that just makes it all the more worthwhile. :)

I'd love to see any other moves you come up with to add to this ruleset. ;)

Thank you.

The intention was for the clocks to snowball like in the example you've given. I will have to review the rule, consider the snowball/non-snowball options and maybe revise the clocks. Thanks for pointing that out Lukas.

Looking good P-lorn!  Maybe do it up in a layout like a little pamplet/tri-fold?

I'm not much for graphic design or layout but I'll see what I can do. It's a good idea.

Ok so here is my second shot at this. Made it a little cleaner and moved around various bonuses/negatives. Also added in the initial creation mechanic or specific playbooks adding/subtracting from the clocks. Opinions always welcome! Thank you.
