You are then explicitly making it known to the table that this is an issue, and that you are planning to do something about
This. My feeling is that the main purpose of the move is to make sure one thing player does *not* or at least does *less* is pass someone denying his character's right because of shyness/being passive/etc. Because each character has big list of rights, and everyone (from other players to MC) is free to forget about some of them. it is player's own responsibility to remind "I have this right, and looks like you're denying it, are you sure?"
so others will either say "oh, I didn't notice, let me fix that" or go full "well, [sadly] it seems that your right is denied. What's your answer to it?"
and text clearly says 'it is ok to say that you'll fight for it. it is ok to voice frustration, or hold it against MC. it is not being selfish, it is respecting yourself and your rights"

AW:Dark Age / Re: Proposition with Dragon Herald
« on: March 11, 2014, 04:48:43 AM »
Dragon Herald is not harmed by dragons. It does not seem obvious to me that he'll be able to 'wield' them, though it is possible for him, given enough work. Dragons have to recognize him as equal - but they do not have to obey to him just because he's DH. Say, Bilbo in Desolation of Smaug is not harmed by dragon. But he does seem quite powerless to stop him from destroying lake town

But it's always worth inquiring what the text of the game that we are given is saying, as it is. A storygame like this is a double artifact. It's a generative ruleset for creating umpteen fictions. It's also an artifact which offers a fiction, in its own right. An esthetic and ethical critique of that fiction is interesting. To say "but you don't have to play it that way if you don't like it" is changing the topic.
OK. They I'd wait for mr.Lumpley to confirm or deny what I think. I agree, it's totally worth inquiring

AW:Dark Age / Re: Fates: a Dissenting Opinion
« on: March 07, 2014, 03:54:48 AM »
I very much like the idea. And agreed, getting FATES back is.. not that nice. I believe someone who is only going to die a hero can do something to, say, live to see Dragon rise - say, ask for blessing from said Dragon or his Herald - but this should be exception.

though the list itself should be revised a little, as there's a lot between "I will die a hero" and, say "I will die peacefully in my bed".

"I will see the Dragon rise", though, is golden.

Don't forget, that on 10+ gods REVEAL you, how make it come to pass, they do not HELP you.
I think it looks like this:
Jason, outlaw heir: - O mighty Athene, how do I get back the throne of my father this bastard Pelias usurped?
I offer thee this mighty boar's heart!

10+: Athene the Wise sends you a dream of a land far away. 'There you see the wondrous Golden Fleece is, get it, present it in your father's throne room, and throne will become yours"
(see that she does not help Jason GET the Fleece - he's the PC, after all. This is just info.
7-9, MC sees sacrifice as acceptable: "The owl-eyed Athena accepts your sacrifice, but offers no direct guidance". This might be phrased better in play, but idea is - Jason KNOWS that goddess ACCEPTED his sacrifice, so she "silently approves". Also, in certain cases, like in this one, I believe other people can tell if sacrifice was accepted or not. This does not become direct mechanical effect, but believe me, Argonauts would rather have Athene approving their quest, then not
7-9, MC sees sacrifice as unacceptable. Here there're variations. Maybe she just disapproves:"Quiet is the temple, and fires do not consume the boar's heart. Seems, that Athene is not on your side with this". So Athene disapproves, but does not directly punish Jason - he might still try on with his quest (but now we know, that Athene disapproves, and this is interesting - do others disapprove as well? Is there a feud between her and some other god?), he might try to remove Pelias by military might (which is realm of Ares, always jelous of his sister goddess, so trying to sway him this way might work), or do something else
OR, as others seem to play in playtest threads, maybe she disapproves of sacrifice, and asks for something more. This is around the lines of "make them pay" MC move.
OR
"Show them evidence of what's coming" - vision of darkness coming to the area, on the lines of "your way of thinking is wrong, that's no time for feuds, THIS will consume everyone if you're not united"/
OR

When the dragonherald tried to sacrifice a monk of bloodless X, found his skin invulnerable to weapons and the Troll-killer said "does anyone else have a sharp sword of good iron that may spill the blood of any mortal being?". The looks from the other players were hilarious!

best moment indeed!

about the Bloodless Xristos religion being free of this, that and that of traditional real-world christianity - I do not think so. Sure, you can play it that way... or not.
Omission in *W traditionally was "use it. or not. fill in the blanks". The same as we have no idea, what was the Empire of Eagles - besides having specific laws of passing birthright, we do not know anything about the Empire
Most notably, is it finished, or just retreated for a while

Same with Xristos. Maybe he is closer to our version of christianity. or buddhism. or something else.

I think the Dragon is a good name, poetic and exact at the same time.
For the ideas what it could be if not "real dragon"...
-Dragon of [cheap] Steel
-Dragon of Steam Power
-Dragon of sleeping [buried] Plague
-Dragon of normally docile natives, talked into frenzy for Revenge
-etc

about "Pray" move: as far as I understood it provides only one thing - guidance, the same as "open your mind" in base AW. If you roll good MC will give you a good advice. If you roll not so good (7-9), you should hope you did nice offerings, as in this case gods at least won't be mad at you for bothering them (I suppose on 7-9 you sorta get either "gods accepted your offering" or "gods refused your offering" tags, and MC will take it into consideration while doing his other moves, no mechanical effect)

Monster of the Week / Re: Tag-Team Finisher for Luchadors?
« on: July 02, 2013, 06:16:27 PM »
I'd say..
One of the characters, - say, Leader(L) gets to a bad guy and attacks him. For him this is any basic attack move. Then he shouts to his Wingmen(W) - "hey, smack him back". Wingman can try for "Team up" maneuver, which on success gives +X or double damage or whatever(should be good enough) - on half-success I'd move outside world for "soft move", but on fail (to show how it makes things dangerous) bad guy should
a) block the finisher
b) get to attack himself
c) possibly "shake off" effect of the first attack a bit, to represent something, which was hanging in the balance to finish off.

The Sprawl / Re: The Sprawl: Alpha Version
« on: May 07, 2013, 05:39:28 PM »
Right now I have 1 game where we just started things with hunter and killer (killer is so totally Codename47 with his mirrored eyes, bald head and antique handgun).
In this case third player (who later decided not to go) fiddled a bit with concept of tech and among other things was disappointed with lack of gear. "He's kinda the guy who makes things explode, where's his explosives?!" as well as other.

Right now my other friend convinced me to soloMC her in Sprawl (after first unsuccessful run with Infiltrator) as a Tech.
one thing I did not mention is suprise from seing *winged* drone ? is it supposed to be cyber-bird?
Anyway, I keep trying to make this work, lately with usage of Technoir Transmissions to setup the world as well (if you are not familiar with Technoir, I'd recommend at least taking a look, Transmission is basically like Fiasco playset with random things arranged to generate fun and diverse setup).

Among other things I'd very much like play examples (like in Dungeon World) or mission generation examples. Examples are always great, as they show rules in work much more clearly.

sad to bring more bugs not more awesomeness (though I'll try to do something nice later):
- Tech's Gear is a sad place to be - it has nogthing, almost.
my current solution:
Flechette pistol (2-harm close flechette quick) and Armoured clothing (Armour 0, +discrete, subtract 1
when rolling the harm move), medium drone, Bag of tools. 3 uses. +1 forward each time
or:
Armoured coat (armour 1), Machine pistol (2-harm close autofire loud), small drone, chopper bike (no weapons)

I love bike option for a style
---------
Tech again, cyberware tags. Zero of them.
current solution:
Cyberware: Cybercoms(2 tags), Cyberarm with implant tools, Control Systems(2 tags), Data Storage and Interface(2 tags).

max for all of them since he's dedicated tech specialist, not "tech and something else" like infiltrator or fixer

------------
guns:
infiltrator has Silenced SMG (2-harm close autofire loud)
silenced and STILL loud?
same SMG in Firearms section: SMG (2-harm close/near autofire loud)
I suppose Silenced looses loud, but not sure it has to loose near as well. but ok.

same infiltrator:Sniper rifle (3-harm far)
in Firearms: Sniper rifle (3-harm far/ex reload loud)
I guess you meant "Silenced Sniper Rifle" - which is shorter range but silent and.. no reload?
I'd give player a choice to take either option, or have "silencer" separate for an additional payoff

silenced semi-auto pistol (2-harm close)
In Firearms: Semi-auto pistol (2-harm close loud quick)
loosing loud is OK. why loose quick?

monofilament whip (4-harm hand messy area dangerous)
in Hand Weapons: Monofilament whip (4 harm hand messy area)
why I get worse whip then in default armory?

Hacker:
Flechette pistol (2-harm close flechette)
in Firearms:
Flechette pistol (3-harm close flechette quick)

No idea which one I should use. I guess I'll use the latter minding that flechette shells are somewhat rare

all in all: please, make the weapons from firearms and in individual gear sections working the same way (I like how Infiltrator can get awesomer-then-usual versions and so on, but it should be more clear)

Apocalypse World / Re: Seduce or Manipulate Questions
« on: April 30, 2013, 03:46:44 AM »
1) yeah, it's about "money" (goods, in fact) as power. In a cruel world of AW shiny things are rare and they are valued. about liking the thing ? I suppose by making barter generic "things" Vince tries to assume that having barter you either have something Rolfball likes and wants, or he's sure that by trading it he can get what he wants.

2) I suppose in this example it means "giving them xp is leverage"
still in my games I try to mediate so that manipulation uses something other party cares about. not that we have problems with that...
3) yes, you have a good idea, do that.

Apocalypse World / Re: On Charging for Character's Services
« on: April 30, 2013, 03:39:48 AM »
about the angel: being "on call" simply means that
a) if they need your help you'd help them asap, assuming that they will provide material costs
b) you'd be around in time if someone needs to be pulled back from "death", though after you did it, it probably will cost extra.

think of real-world health insurance. they give you a number so you can call them in case you have health problems. it does not mean that hospitalizing (full around-the-clock care) or ICU usage (resuscitation) won't cost extra ? but it does mean, that you'd get a chance to pay that price instead of just lying on your back and slowly dying.
