Apocalypse World / Re: Strong, present leader.

Well, the situation in fiction (session I'm MCing) is: first, there was said that this NPC is a sergeant and warlord's second in command. And some time later PC decided to revisit him and attack him. I think it would be reasonable, if he will be a "temporary" leader, but I can be wrong, right?

I have a question about "When a gang suffers harm".

One of my fronts is a warlord and he has a gang. I treat this gang as a part of "warlord threat", right? Let's say its 3-harm large 2-armor.

One of my PC (funlugger, ofc) attacked some of the gang members, there is not a whole gang present, so let's say it's 3-harm small 2-armor (about 10+ people).

My question is - who is considered a leader of that gang? A warlord itself (in fiction, leader of the holding)?

Or maybe it's NPC who was introduced as a sergeant and warlord's second in command, and is present in the scene?

I'm a very unexperienced MC, so when they miss a roll and I don't know what to do, I simply say: time for the break. And then I make myself some coffee or tea and try to relax and think clear.

About maelstrom and miss, there is one thing that seems to be universal - I describe some bad, dark visions. Last time it was the scene of brutal execution upon PC friend - she saw it like she was the one holding the gun.
I often use the "maelstrom misses" to add something dark from my fronts, and / or inflict some ap harm.

When Monk reaches into your soul and silences you, roll+weird.

Just one quick question - shouldn't it be something that PC does, not NPC?

I play Snow, the Battlebabe.

Trying to describe her in few words, she is the ultimate survivor. She would probably do anything to just keep going. But on the other hand, she is a kind of cast-away, always running - not even knowing where or why.

Most of her life she was working as a mercenary, and she is willing to take any job. She don't seem to have any regrets or moral dilemmas.
I see her just slipping on the surface of life, seeming not to be affected by anything, or involved in any way.

On the other hand, she seems to be almost pure, sterile, not affected by dirt and pain that surrounds her.

ATM I am participating in the second campaign playing Snow, and  must say she keeps evolving in some interesting way. But she is still a mystery to me, keeps me wondering - what will she do? Is there any limit for her, any barrier, that she can't cross?

Or any that she will not want to cross.

So, step 3. is my turn, right? I tell him my +1 from BB, and he can replace it with one of the +3?
Thanks for help ;).

I got lost.

So I can add +1 if we know each other, or just decide will it be -1 or +1?

That would be little uncool, cause MC said we all know each other, and it ruins a brainer "bonus" (Tell everyone Hx-1. You keep yourself secret).

I see.

But if he will choose to give me +3, and I will give him +1 cause we know each other, what then?

Apocalypse World / Hx

Hi,
Vincent, I have a question to ask about Hx.

Some time ago we started a session of AW as PBF, 3 of us, and now new player is joining us. The problem is I don't know how to write Hx for him - cause there was a change in Hx rules, I see it in characterbooks, but I don't have new MC playbook yet, only playtestbook (and there is old version of rules).

So, we did it this way, he introduced himself, on his turn he told us -1 (brainer).
So, it's my turn, I play BB, and I wonder - can I give the new player Hx +3, even if I gave it before to someone else?

Old rules in playtest book are:

Quote
The new character will need Hx with everybody else and everybody else will need Hx with her.
Here’s how:
• The player introduces her new character.
• She goes through her Hx rules and makes all the requisite decisions.
• Everybody else goes through their Hx rules, rewriting them to binaries as on page 23, and making their requisite decisions. They don’t revisit their Hx with anybody else, they simply decide, binarily, for the new character.
• Sum as normal, and ta da.
