I usually play my Bard as more of a storyteller, so even when he's healing he is rumbling on something.

I'm playing a Bard and constantly heal the party (when I make the roll, the is). Could have taken the advance move for it at level 2 but decided I needed more meat to my noble lavish-cloth wearing Gnome Bard so he wouldn't be so useless all the time.

Dungeon World / Art for my upcoming DW book
« on: June 13, 2013, 03:39:11 PM »
Hey people,
For the past year I've work with a great team of people to publish a Hebrew RPG book which uses DW rules, called Vanor.
We're near the end, with the book set to come out on August 8.

This week I got the final version of the cover art and thought I'd share it!

Artist: http://www.avivor.com/

This scene shows an adventuring party: Human Rogue, Elf Ranger, Troll Paladin, Dwarf Fighter and a Goblin Druid. They made camp but discover it's in the territory of creatures called Anima, the servants of the Spirit Lords. So the druid tries to parley with the Anima leader while the rest of the group watch and prepare for the worst (also entered the Anima into the codex, here: http://codex.dungeon-world.com/monster/380001 )

Our book contain a campaign setting and somewhat modified rules for DW. E.g. we made new racial moves to allow iconic Vanor character (such as Elf, Orc and Troll Paladins), added new monsters and removed some others which didn't fit in the setting.

More art beside the cover can be found here:

Enjoy!

I didn't find, or didn't look well enough, what the "b" means.
Can you help me with this please?

I went with Mixed Heritage, which sounds better.

A. because I'm writing in Hebrew, the English connotation is meaningless anyway. I just translated to "half-breed" in the forum. But I'll take that into account.

B. I don't want it to be about elves and humans. I don't even have human rangers. So I changed that to reflect this, and give the choice to have a starting move from any of the other races the ranger has access to.

Oh, I see now, thanks.

I'm having a bit of an issue with that move - I'm writing DW into a setting book and I don't have half-elves. I thought of making it a generic move, something along the lines of "you've studies another wilderness culture" and you get to take a starting move of a different race (I'll also have 5 races for each class).

This is what I got:

Half-Breed
You where raised in a community of a different race and have learn their ways. You gain the starting move of one of the other races.

Dungeon World / Ranger

Hey,
The copy I use for DW (http://book.dwgazetteer.com/) has the following text about the Ranger's advance moves:

Quote
Take this move only if it is your first advancement

While for every other class the text reads:

Quote
When you gain a level from 2-5, choose from these moves.

Is this an oversight or is something special about the Ranger?

Has anyone made writeups for simple black-powder weapons? Flintlock, blunderbuss - that sort of stuff?

So "on a hit" is a broad term including on rolls above 7.

Also, I don't seem to find this explanation in the rules proper.

Is there a difference between "on 10+" and "on a hit"? E.g. Parley:
Quote
On a hit they ask you for something and do it if you make them a promise first
Is "on a miss" 6 and under?
