Apocalypse World / Questions with Ψ-harm and D-Harm
« on: May 15, 2017, 04:50:28 PM »
Other than the effects that they impose on the inflicted, Does ?-harm and D-Harm contribute to the harm clocks of PC's?

I understand that ?-harm and D-Harm causes different things to happen when inflicted (like D-harm can cause regular harm if not addressed or ?-harm can make characters act without control). I just wanted to check to make sure that it works in the similar way to S-Harm in that it does not add to their harm clock (at least not directly) and it disappear once the action or the thing that is causing it is addressed.

Apocalypse World / Extended playbooks - yay or nay?
« on: May 10, 2017, 09:50:02 AM »
I've been pondering about the extended playbooks and have come to a crossroads in regards to whether to allow the players to use them in a game that's about to start.

On one hand, I like what the playbooks offer (the child thing and the quarantine comes to mind), although I have not had any experience using them so I don't know drastic they change the game (also I have a couple of new player as well and don't want to daunt them with more choice), this is my first time running the 2nd edition hence why I'm being extra cautious.

What's your experience been with playing/running with these books? Does anyone have any advice in running with these books?

I was looking through the extended playbook (deciding wether I am going to allow the players to choose from theses) when I noticed the special move for the Child Thing

Quote
In addition to food, you eat bizarre things: metal, people, plastic, minds, electricity, art. At the end of the session,if you’ve eaten something from this list that belongs or belonged to another player’s character, you know them better, and get +1Hx with them. If this brings you to Hx+4, reset to Hx+1 and mark experience as always.

does this special work in addition to the session end move or does it replace the move for that playbook?

Is it good or bad to give moves to players because of what has happen in the story so far?

The story:
I have an angel in my game who has acquired 2 people who work under her (I guess you can call them nurses) and I have had a situation where the Angel has been barking orders (mainly moving and keeping an eye on people) in this situation I just made them do what she asked.

Do you think having just those two people is justifiable to give that player pack alpha (or a custom move in that manner for the Angel ) or do you think I should leave it for another session and see if the basic moves do the job?

The book gives a minimum amount of players but it doesn't give a max. I know there are 11 characters available in each game but my first thoughts is that having that many players at the table at the same time can be a challenge, but my lack of experience with the game doesn't allow me to make a good guess what that limit might be.

The reason I am asking is because its possible I might have 3 new players joining my game (which already has 3 players and me the MC).  I know there won't be a definitive answer but I want to get an idea of what people think.

Apocalypse World / First session hurdle/issues (possible spoilers)
« on: July 05, 2016, 04:14:08 PM »
I went through creating the characters with the players and talked about the setting with them, but I ran out of time to do the "a day in the life of....." (yes I know BAD MC!). Although I was able to get where they are based, the characteristics of the players (or what they supposed to be), some interesting things that the characters (as said by the players) have done/seen (e.g shot someone in the head after harassing the player, rival hold, player swindle rival hold [don't ask how], wolves invades hold at night ) as well as a couple of NPC with links to the players.

Do you think this is enough information to start creating a front or shall I wait until the next session before doing that?
