Its me again back with another sci-fi project.

This time I'm trying my hand at making a mini RPG. Coming in at 4 pages total, the game is about exploring the fantastic landscapes of a Huge mysterious mega space station. Think Ringworld, a Dyson sphere, or the citadel from mass effect. Its also about getting strange powers after being exposed to what you find.

Check it out. Feel free to give me feedback or playtest if you like, and let me know how it went.

So the premise is this, the PC's are on the road, moreover there community is traveling with them. Give the PC's a bus and have them decided why they are traveling. Are they searching for something, a new home maybe? Are you running from something? What?

Make characters as normal. If someone picks the hardholder make the bus a convoy. If someone picks the Hocus maybe this is a religious thing and so on. The traveling has to stop often to refuel or scavenge for other resources. Maybe there even has to be some backtracking depending on the goal of the traveling. Think of it as Organ Trail in AW. There are still interwoven relationships. I.e. who's chasing you, who's lands are you in now, who's lands are you headed into?

I think this could be a fun idea with lots of potential, even if its more goal oriented interpretation of AW than normal.

Thoughts? Preemptive tips?

Monster of the Week / The Divine Boss from beyond move question
« on: November 18, 2016, 12:49:33 PM »
Quick question,

I have someone playing The Divine playbook for the first time and even though I've looked it over many times, I am curious why the Boss from beyond move isn't a given like with the Chosen's Destiny’s Plaything or the professional's Deal with the agency?

Thanks in advance.

Monster of the Week / New Custom Playbook. The Ordained
« on: October 04, 2016, 06:18:10 PM »
So my girlfriend and I were driving back from a camping trip and we were talking about RPG's and she mentioned that she wanted to play some sort of preist like character once in my Sci-fi RPG but then we got to thinking that it belonged more in MOTW. It seems that while its not the most wide spread trope from monster and horror inspired stuff but it is there.

So I made this, The Ordained. Its your basic Priest who performs exorcisms archetype, but a little more generalized as a monster hunter.

I thought it would go quicker but I had a little trouble considering that many of the obvious priest like things are already sprinkled throughout in other classes. The Initiate and the Expert could totally be played like a priest if someone was so inclined. So I just embraced that fact and made it so that it automatically multi classes a little. Let me know if anyone plays it. This was just an exercise, and I made for my girlfriend who has cool ideas I like to implement. :)

blood & guts / Order of moves listed on playbooks
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:32:38 PM »
Here is a question I'm not sure I've ever seen an answer to. Is there a particular order of moves on a playbook? I mean its not alphabetical. Is there thought that goes into which appears first or last? I'm not just asking for AW but any hacks people have made as well. Do you put them in any particular order?

Monster of the Week / New Sci-fi Space hack of MoTW
« on: July 01, 2016, 04:04:43 PM »
Hi Monster of the week gamers.

I recently finished my hack of this system where you play as television inspired characters traveling from planet to planet. I made a post about it over here (http://apocalypse-world.com/forums/index.php?topic=7639.0)

I would love some thoughts on it from people who enjoy MoTW especially.

Hello BFA forum,

Would it be cliche to start with "long time lurker, first time poster?" Well I just did it, so get over it.

Let's get started, I made a hack. I didn't start in the forum but I did find advice here, but I did it. And now after many, many months of work with the only person hearing about it (or caring about it) being my GF, I am ready for advice moving forward. And maybe soon even play-testing (cringe). But first some description.

What is it?
Ever wanted to travel to exciting, exotic planets, learn exciting skills. Meet exciting and exotic cultures and... do whatever, Well Planet of the week is for you. Heavily inspired by sci-fi TV tropes, characters and subjects matter. Play as your favorite gritty space traveling archetype, trying to make your way through a harsh universe in this hack inspired by alien, firefly, farscape, and yes even star trek.

In this exciting world you can be...
I made a LOT of classes, too many classes, here are a few:

Adept: Practitioner of mysterious Arts who is surprisingly deadly

Artificial: A manufactured being capable of inhuman feats

Doc: Keeping people alive is your business

Explorer: A well traveled experienced jack of all trades

Hired Gun: Enough said

Hacker: Master of computers and networks

Investigator: Obsession and Keen eyes for detail

Lowlife: Criminal, or at least criminally minded

Personality: Good at talking their way in or out of trouble

Pilot: enough said

Psychic: Someone with a mind that can reach new hidden depths

Survivor: Forged in on a harsh world tough as hell to kill

Techie: Drones, gadgets, and fixing things

Veteran: Scarred, seasoned, and capable

Also

The basic moves are reworked, and I separated out rules for vehicles and major assets not to mention made my own hx(ish) descriptions.

What I need

I have wanted to make a space/sci-fi game for years now, but was never able to do it from scratch. I seriously looked at so many options, started and abandoned adapting no less than three other systems to my purposes, until I came across Apocalypse world, and Monster of the week. I finally found a system that would general help rather than hinder the type of gaming I've always wanted. And boy did I run with it.

But I've never made a game before, and while I can guess on what to do next, I would appreciate any advice on moving forward. Not to mention just wanting to see some validation for all my work, that someone other than my GF and I seeing it. So thoughts, comments, advice?

Once I find a place to host it, (and maybe make some last minute edits) I will post what I have for critique. For now though ask me whatever your interested in and I shall provide!
