Apocalypse World / Re: Apocalypse World 2nd Edition

I think probably my favorite thing about Apocalypse Word was Hx and how your playbook helped define you, the relationship between the others and even the others (to at least a minor extent).

As someone who's had a couple characters buried and made into complete jokes, I think Hx puts too much power in the hands of people making the statements and I like the direction 2e is going with it.

All I really want is Faceless 2e.

Apart from the confusion with Go Aggro vs. Seize By Force, I don't think there's any problem with AW's basic moves. And I think that Vince's done a lot of work shoring up particular issue.

There's some stuff that I'd like to see from DW in AW, but that's more personal preference stuff that suits my tastes and wouldn't really make a better AW.

What's going to happen to Playbooks like the Faceless?

Apocalypse World / How collaborative should Hx be?
« on: June 07, 2015, 06:38:10 PM »
I don't have a lot of experience with Apocalypse World. I wonder how much Hx is meant to be a collaborative process. Do both of the affected players deciding things about the choices that set Hx with each other? Or if it's one player's turn, do they just get to define everything and make that stand?

Apocalypse World / Re: Breaking away from the archetypes
« on: January 30, 2015, 10:29:54 PM »
I personally haven't had enough play experience to want to break away from the archetypes. I feel like I haven't had the full basic experience, so I still have the hunger to play the archetypical gunlugger who's a dour murderhobo or the brainer who's this obvious creeper. If I were to get my fill of that, I think then I could begin to experiment and try different permutations. I want to have a foundation down, you know? Have the fundamentals figured out before I try to do more advanced stuff.

Well, people can shoot back at a Gunlugger, but they cannot mindfuck back at a Brainer.

I think it is also too easy to just treat the Brainer like the Joker or something because people know they are a Brainer. If you have a super-nice and friendly Brainer, everyone is going to be twice as on guard, I would think.

Apocalypse World / Re: Out of Place

What makes you think other MCs aren't putting characters in odd places?

I'd wager the impression comes from a comparative dearth of threads like "how do I stop my Skinner from seducing EVERYBODY?!?" compared to threads like "how do I stop my Gunlugger from shooting EVERYBODY?!?"

Apocalypse World / Hardhold Armor Upgrade
« on: March 24, 2014, 02:04:29 PM »
When a Hardholder picks "your compound is tall, deep and mighty, of stone and iron. Your gang gets +2armor when fghting in its defense." does that override the basic +1armor that a hardhold has by default (so that the gang gets +2 armor over whatever its own armor is), or is it cumulative with the basic +1armor that a hardhold has (so that the gang gets +3 armor over whatever its own armor is)?

Oh, okay. I get it now then. Thanks.

I kinda noticed that you referred to it as "your" story, too. That sounds like pre-planning

Are MCs not supposed to feel like they're part of telling the story?
