There was talk of a high-level supplement, to me that makes sense. At level 10, adventurers are a Big Deal and probably are handling statesmen-level stiff and not dungeon delving. That's the usual progression, anywyay.

The perfect solution

I'm sure I asked this before but I can't locate my past threads

Have you done anything to prolong longevity of a character's playing life?

I think I read somewhere that one character can hit 10th level after 20 adventures, and that seems a bit short for my tastes.

Other than taking another class or apprentice, would you say doubling the required xp to level up is the easiest way to go?

Dungeon World / Gaining Levels With No XP

Has anyone done away with xp for gaining levels, and just decided everyone levels up at the most opportune time?

Thanks

There was a short article explaining the philosophy behind a dragon only have 'x' hit points. It explained why it was the fiction that prevented the dragon from being whittled down too quickly.

Anyone know what I am talking about? If so, could someone provide a link to that article please?

Thank you

Page 147: "When you draw on a place of power to create a magical effect..."

It's been a while since I read DW, but what is a place of power, and does the ritual have to have one?

Thanks

Something like

Spell Research Or: Creating a Spell for Your Spellbook
When you create a spell for your spell book, tell the GM what you’re trying to achieve. The effects of permanent spells are always possible but the GM will give you one to four of the following conditions:

•?It’s going to take days/weeks/months
•?First you must ____
•?You’ll need help from ____
•?It will require a lot of money
• It will also require _____
•?The best you can do is a lesser version, unreliable and limited
•?It will cost you a point of ____
•?You’ll have to disenchant ____ to do it

I'm new to DW and not sure what to do, but as someone done something similar? I think it would be great for wizards to be able to create spells for their spell book and build up their repertoire of spells. 30 magic spells seems awfully thin on the ground to me

Hmmm...Ritual let's you perfrom one off spell effects, I was hoping for something that placed the spell in the wizard's spell book making it more permanent like the other spell book spells

Is there a way to do this within the rules?

There's only around 30 spells per cleric and 30 per wizard

That's not a lot of choice, but am I missing something here?

There are loads of things to do with a topped out level 10 character, though. Just because they aren't going to be getting any more moves from experience doesn't mean they're done. Just means you have to work through different, descriptive avenues to gain potency. Your level 10 fighter wants to gain her some spell castin'? I might just know a demigod of magic that can help with that, for a price. And I know a mad artificer who, rumour has it, can graft demon parts to you, and those demon bits have all sorts of power left in 'em, and almost nobody talks about dark urges or evil voices in their heads afterward.
True, good examples

I thought you could still gain Moves after 10th level?

Character retirement isn't a problem, it's an opportunity.

Unless you think you should play the same character forever. But who thinks that? Probably the same people who think character death is a disaster.
There's a world of difference between playing the same character forever and not having had time to really get into your character because he's improving too fast.

Does the game still award XP for failing?

I've heard it tends to make character improvement too rapid

Thanks
