There's only around 30 spells per cleric and 30 per wizard
That's not a lot of choice, but am I missing something here?

Write your own
Make your Wizard Ritualup his own spells
(use this compendium class : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Tg-o3aiddaGTm35Ynl-zpnYlmr7tamCxISNTGJhsNAA/edit?usp=sharing )

Wow! How'd I miss Ritual!
Thank you
-
Hmmm...Ritual let's you perfrom one off spell effects, I was hoping for something that placed the spell in the wizard's spell book making it more permanent like the other spell book spells
Is there a way to do this within the rules?

Something like
Spell Research Or: Creating a Spell for Your Spellbook
When you create a spell for your spell book, tell the GM what you’re trying to achieve. The effects of permanent spells are always possible but the GM will give you one to four of the following conditions:
•?It’s going to take days/weeks/months
•?First you must ____
•?You’ll need help from ____
•?It will require a lot of money
• It will also require _____
•?The best you can do is a lesser version, unreliable and limited
•?It will cost you a point of ____
•?You’ll have to disenchant ____ to do it
I'm new to DW and not sure what to do, but as someone done something similar? I think it would be great for wizards to be able to create spells for their spell book and build up their repertoire of spells. 30 magic spells seems awfully thin on the ground to me

This is another short (but very useful) thread about the same topic:

Do you have a copy of DCCRPG? The spells in there easily port over and they RAWK for descriptions on a near hit or miss :)
-
I don't see why you couldn't use Ritual to create a new spell. I'd suggest bringing new magic into the world would be a great one time magical effect, after all.

Page 147: "When you draw on a place of power to create a magical effect..."
It's been a while since I read DW, but what is a place of power, and does the ritual have to have one?
Thanks

What's a place of power depends on your setting, your atmosphere, and probably on what the wizard tells you it is when you'll ask him. And yes, every ritual must have one in order to be performed.
