Title: Amber: The Power Moves
Post by: Charles Perez on October 22, 2012, 11:02:03 PM
Note that when using powers out of scene, routine success can be presumed without rolling.

Pattern:

When using the Pattern to walk Shadow in search of a desired object or location, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 4; on 7-9, choose 2. On 7+, if the result is not yet satisfactory, you may improve it by continuing to use the Pattern to search Shadow for a desired object or location. No advantageous feature introduced by this move may include anything of the Real.
You find an object of your desire that is not yours or not singular, with 1 advantageous feature.
You find a location of your desire where you have never been, with 1 advantageous feature.
You find a shadow of your desire where you have never been, with 1 advantageous feature.
You need not take an inconveniently long time going where you wish nor finding what you seek.
You need neither exert yourself in the face of fatigue nor endure hardship or duress.
You are able to enter into an adjacent region of shadow.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object, location or shadow.

When continuing to use the Pattern to search Shadow for a desired object or location or shadow, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 3; on 7+, choose 2. At least one new object or location or shadow of desire must already be chosen. No advantageous feature introduced by this move may include anything of the Real.
You are able to enter an adjacent region of shadow.
You may choose an extra 1 from 'using the Pattern to search Shadow for a desired object' that has not yet been chosen other than 'You need not take an inconveniently long time going where you wish nor finding what you seek' or 'You need neither exert yourself in the face of fatigue nor endure hardship or duress'.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object, location, or shadow.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object, location, or shadow.
If the result is still not yet satisfactory, you may make this move again.

When using the Pattern to alter probability in the current shadow, roll +Power and choose a plausible yet uncertain outcome to resolve this scene. On 10+, the outcome happens. On 7-9, the outcome happens if not opposed by someone or something with power over outcomes in shadow. On 6-, the outcome does not happen.

When starting to walk the Pattern, begin with enduring hardship or duress or engaging in a psychic struggle or engaging in a physical struggle. You will reach the center when a move - and the fiction - allow you to bring the pattern walk to an end, remembering always that straying from your forward progress means death, as does not having the lineage of Order; to waver from your forward progress is to court death. Reaching the center for the first time means gaining the power of Pattern; reaching the center a subsequent time is a good way to regain lost things that were intrinsic to you. Then, you may teleport anywhere you wish.

Logrus:

When using the Logrus to search Shadow for a desired object or location, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 4; on 7-9, choose 2. On 7+, if the result is not yet satisfactory, you may improve it by continuing to use the Logrus to search Shadow for a desired object or location. No advantageous feature introduced by this move may include anything of the Real. Also, you may not seek outside your current region of shadow, unless for an object without personality that is already yours.
You find an object of your desire that is not yours or not singular, with 1 advantageous feature.
You find a location of your desire where you have never been, with 1 advantageous feature.
You need not take an inconveniently long time finding what you seek.
You can bring or send others to your desired location.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object or location.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object or location.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object.
When continuing to use the Logrus to search Shadow for a desired object or location, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 3; on 7-9, choose 2. At least 1 new object or location of desire must already be chosen. No advantageous feature introduced by this move may include anything of the Real.
You may choose an extra 1 from 'using the Logrus to search Shadow for a desired object' that has not yet been chosen other than 'You do not take an inconveniently long time finding what you seek' or 'You need neither exert yourself in the face of fatigue nor endure hardship or duress'.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object or location.
You may choose 1 extra advantageous feature for a desired object.
If the result is still not yet satisfactory, you may make this move again.

When using the Logrus to alter the current location or shadow, roll +Power. On 10+, add 3 to your hold over that shadow; on 7-9, add 1 to your hold over that shadow. On 7+, if you desire more hold, your may continue using the Logrus to alter the current shadow. If the shadow is malleable, you can spend 2 hold to select one advantageous feature from 'introducing a shadow of your desire' and apply it to the current shadow. When no longer calling upon the Logrus, lose all hold over that shadow. This move may not add anything Real to a shadow.

When starting to navigate the Logrus, begin with enduring hardship or duress or engaging in a physical struggle or engaging in a psychic struggle. You will reach the end when a move – and the fiction – allow you to bring the navigation to an end, remembering always that straying from your forward progress means death, as does not having the lineage of Chaos, as does not having the power of Shapeshifting; to waver from your forward progress is to court death. While navigating the Logrus, you will spontaneously shape-shift. Reaching the end for the first time means gaining the power of Logrus. Reaching the end a subsequent time bestows no special advantage, but is still worth the Respect due for navigating the Logrus. Then, you are free to walk away, given that you can walk at all.

Trump:

When searching for a likely person or location in a Trump deck, roll +Power. On 10+, you find a trump card for that person or location. On a 7-9, if you have ever seen the person or location with your own eyes, you find a trump card for that person or location.

When attempting to make Trump contact with someone or something, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 2; on 7-9, choose 1; on 6-, choose 0.
The contact can be up to 3 regions of shadow away, not merely up to 2.
There is no fresh interference with this particular Trump contact.
Whoever you are contacting by Trump will be certain that it is you.

When receiving a Trump contact you do not wish to accept, engage in a psychic struggle or endure hardship or duress. Only if you cannot continue the struggle must you take the contact. Ending the struggle means being able to wait out the attempted contact.

If in Trump contact with someone, you may engage in a psychic struggle with that someone.

When making a Trump image, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 2; on 7-9, choose 1.
You can complete the image even if you cannot currently see the subject with your own eyes.
If you can complete the image despite not currently being able to see the subject with your own eyes, then you can complete the image even if you have never before seen the subject.
The attempt does not take an inconveniently long time.

Shapeshifting:

When using Shapeshifting to take another form, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 3; on 7-9, choose 2; on 6-, choose 2 but you are flagging.
You may take the form in an instant.
You may take the form of a creature or being not your own.
Your form is size +1.
Your form, if size +1, is instead size +2.
The form you take is a useful object, with function and 7 uses appropriate to the form.
The form you take can travel through shadow, provided it is other than merely human.

When traveling through shadow using a creature or being's power or an object's or spell's function, roll +Power. On 10+, choose 2; on 7-9, choose 1.
You may arrive at a destination where you have never previously been.
You do not take an inconveniently long time reaching your destination.
If your destination is a place where you have previously been, or if you are seeking out someone to whom you are attuned, then you are able to enter into an adjacent region of shadow.
You need not engage in a physical struggle nor engage in a psychic struggle nor endure hardship or duress.
