Is there a reason why some forum names are lower case and others uppercase?

The inconsistency is making my brain juices boil. :)

Pure orneriness!

(Proper nouns are uppercase, everything else is lower case.)

Oh, except for lumpley games, which is always lower case even though it's a proper noun.

Doesn't the name of a forum become a proper noun though? Just sayin'. (Orneriness, indeed. Ha!)
