Title: Retire to safety
Post by: Mike Sands on February 21, 2012, 02:00:51 AM
My editor raised the question: does Monster of the Week need the improvement "retire your hunter to safety"?

It certainly hasn't been picked in my playtests, nor in any I have heard about.

Could those of you reading please let me know if you have used it, or if you would miss it if I take it out.

I haven't played MotW far enough for it to come up, but for what it is worth I don't think I would pick it or miss it.

I'd like to see it stay in. I was playing a character who got hit with a really nasty mystic compulsion. Depending on how it was resolved, I think it's pretty likely that I would have retired him and brought in a new hunter.

Instead, we decided that it was a good time to swap GMs, so I took over as Keeper, and decided to keep the character around as a non-adventuring support NPC back home. Basically, retired to safety.

I've left it in. Given that there wasn't a chorus of "I'd never use it," I figured I'll leave the option there.
