Title: Generic 'Modern' Hack - Request
Post by: robotsinmyhead on January 13, 2013, 12:21:46 PM
I'm looking for a generic 'Modern' hack of the *World rules.  I like the more simplistic stats/gameplay of Dungeon World, but without the Fantasy elements.  More of a 'Do-All' modern day system (as opposed to AW for example, that have a sort of built-in theme)

If you're familiar with d20 Modern --- that.

Joe McDaldno's Simple World (http://buriedwithoutceremony.com/simple-world/)?

It's a framework, but you could quickly throw together enough for a specific game you have in mind.

My Ordinary World (http://www.groundhoggoth.co.uk/Welcome-to-the-hood/) hack is modern but not generic; it's geared around playing small time crooks trying to make their way in the world. If it's an equivalent to d20 Modern you want though, it would make a good starting point, just reskin the playbooks as necessary: the Bastion, Fallen, Go-Between, Heavy, Ice, Mover and Thief could all be easily tweaked into agent-types for a modern urban espionage-style game.
