Title: Frozen hells
Post by: Mr Nay on June 06, 2011, 11:51:58 PM
I know that irradiated wastelands and reclaimed ruined cities are the default post apoc settings, though the sunken water logged version is pretty common too.

But what about a world in the grip of nuclear winter or a new ice age caused by a massive climate shift, the world would be as hostile as ever, but will have a kind of mammoth hunter vibe.

Has anyone gone down this route with their game or know of any fiction in this vein?

I saw this game: Frigid Cali (http://apocalypse-world.com/forums/index.php?topic=1512.0) is, as they put it, "a New Ice Age".

The thread is a little sparse though.  :(

Our AP from something similar is here http://apocalypse-world.com/forums/index.php?topic=1465.0 (http://apocalypse-world.com/forums/index.php?topic=1465.0). Again, it's a bit sparse, but the icy setting worked fabulously.

One of our PBP games (http://snailspace.forgreatjustice.net/comments.php?DiscussionID=250&page=1#Item_16) is set in southern Greenland at the site of an alien crash.  We've touched on how the cold has shaped our lives, but we're not very far into the game yet.  I expect it'll become a greater, more horrific part of things.
